Instructions

Most of this homework deals with absorption and emission spectra.  You will use these sites to explore how absorption and emission spectra work:

http://astro.unl.edu/classaction/animations/light/threeviewsspectra.html

http://astro.unl.edu/classaction/animations/light/hydrogenatom.html

Be sure to spend sufficient time exploring these sites so that you can figure out how they work in order to answer the questions.  I strongly recommend that you explore the sites before class on Friday and ask questions no later than immediately after class if you have them.  I will not be available to answer questions about homework after that.

The homework is due by 11pm Friday, Oct. 21.  Late submissions will not be accepted.
